Chinese early 18th century biscuit porcelain pair of seated hounds. Made during the reign of the Emperor Yongzheng as part of a companys cargo for export to Europe c1730

Simply moulded to show a pair of lean hounds with wonderful glaze and colours of white, blue and brown. The one hound is modelled with its head over its shoulder. David Howard in Choice of the Private Trader makes the point that they were really made as pairs but were put together in the porcelain shops.

The naiveté of the pair and the colours make them really fun and quite rare.
