Yongzheng vase painted in en-grisaille heightened with famille rose colours all over glaze vase.

Wonderful detail showing a flowering tree spray with birds butterflies and insects all of which are shown in detail with added colour. The spray goes into a flowering lily all auspicious in Chinese folk lore.

The painting and colour work is excellent and done with the finest of brush work to produce such intricate detail.

The tradition of en-grisaille was based on the work of the Jesuits of the Late Ming and the early Qing courts including Giuseppe Castiglione the famous painter of the court of Kangxi.

This vase is rare as it is all Chinese taste in design, much of this type of work usually reflects the books which the Jesuits brought to China, The Bible, Aesops Fables and the Myths and Legends of Ancient Greece and Rome

An excellent vase and beautiful painting
