The deep ‘sided’ basin has an everted rim with a barbed rim
The centre is painted with a pair of red headed cranes / phoenix one is perched on a tree peony the other is below on rock work. the steep sides and flat rim are painted with six large lotus shaped lappets which are either decorated with ‘antiques’ associated with the scholar or flowers. The lappets are separated with a trellis diaper border.
The underside is painted with flowers and ruyi heads,
The base is painted with a double around a ‘Ju’ mark which is the mark for jade.
