Chinese 19th century silk sleeve band with wonderful embroidery on ivory coloured silk
The intricate embroidery shows a a tree with entwined vines various foliage and flowers. To the base of the tree is an aquatic scene with ducks.
Perched on hollow rock are a pair of golden pheasants towards the base and other birds in the tree and flying.
Sleeve bands indicated wealth as well as a way of the embroiderer showing off their skill rather as Europeans did with their sampler work
This is a particularly fine example from a private English collection
All framed and conserved
