Chinese late transitional early Kangxi vase with decoration of two aggressive dragons with the flaming pearl, a two character mark to the base. Made at the kilns at Jingdezhen and decorated with the wax reveal technique to produce the excellent dragons and detail
The application of the cobalt has been not evenly applied and at the bisque firing stage some of the ‘lumpier ‘ bits of cobalt have burnt off leaving the spots of white porcelain giving a mottled or dappled effect around the dragons. The piece was fired so the lovely white porcelain does show through the white areas.
The detail on the dragons is very good
there are damages to the rim but a rare item
