Chinese 17th century blue and white porcelain ewer or wine jug. Made during the reign of the Emperor Chongzhen, the last of the Ming Emperors.

Painted with a Confucian scholar seated in a naturalistic setting with an attendant on one side with a musical instrument and to the other the attendant has a scroll.

the setting shows the figure with growing bamboo grasses and rock work and flowering lotus to the neck.

The shape is a traditional one associated with the age and is well collected excellent colour and potting.

very good condition. Firing flaw to the spout which appears as a very small chip but it was done before glazing and a small area on the foot rim where some kiln grit has been removed. Small area of grit in the glaze ALL FIRING FLAWS
