Ming Longquan deep open conical bowl. The deep thick glaze is of excellent green colour resembling the Jade colour that was so sought after.

The bowl is unusual as it is incised under the glaze on both the outside and inside of the bowl, most bowls are carved only to one side. The under glaze decoration shows scrolling lotus and foliage and to the out side there is a Greek Key fret border just below the rim. All this makes the bowl an excellent object.

The foot rim is cleared off to the centre where it was fired in the kiln and shows the burnt red colour . The colour of the glaze, the thickness of the glaze, the decoration and the burnt red colour point to it being late 14th century.
