late Ming Early Transitional blue and white finely potted porcelain bowl. Painted in the Buddhist style with lotus buds, with tendrils of leaves above a wave border around the foot rim.

The inside to the centre it is painted with a single lotus flower and to the base a six character apocryphal mark to the earlier Ming Emperor Zhengde. This was to honour and not to deceive.

The bowl is very finely potted and the cobalt blue decoration is very well executed and a very good Early Transitional colour with the violets in milk colour.

The piece is very good and very fine and not at all provincial
