Mandarin square in the rare roundel form of the third rank civil of a peacock. Made to be worn on the back of the wifes robe. All embroidered in couched gilt thread which makes it even more rare.
The badge shows the bird on a rock with a turbulent sea and surrounded by Buddhist emblems and other auspicious symbols. The space between is filled with intense cloud decoration
The third rank civil servant was a judge or in charge of the royal Studs. The badge is also one of hope as the emblems are for longevity and success.
It has been framed and conserved.
