Chinese early 18th century made during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi a small biscuit porcelain water dropper modelled as recumbent Buddhistic Lion / Dog of Fu.

The porcelain is covered with an excellent turquoise glaze that falls short of the foot where the body is showing.

The piece was used to drop small carefully measured drops of water into inks that were used by the scholar or mandarin to produce anything from paintings and drawings to official decrees.

A very good example of the type.
