Kangxi ovoid blue and white jar
Reference
5501
Height
11 cm (4 1/4")
Kangxi - Chinese late 17th century - blue and white jar. Exquisite painting and colour to show Chilongs amongst clouds trailing a tendril of lotus. Chilongs are hornless dragons, and it is thought that they have their origins in Western Han Mythology.
These Chilongs are well painted with very good detail. The clouds and lotus flowers show good painting and they are well spaced around the middle to the top of the jar.
The base has a four character Cheng Hua mark
Made at the Kilns at Jingdezhen
Excellent quality and an unusual small size. The lid is missing
