Kangxi egg and spinach glazed biscuit porcelain model of a Buddhistic Lion / Dog of Fo. Early 18th century model showing the Dog or Lion sitting on a plinth with a puppy climbing up his leg.

The joss stick holder is modelled behind the animal as a small tree trunk. The modelling and the colour is excellent and the size is larger than many of this type.

The Dogs of Fo or often called Buddhistic lions were based on a breed of a dog known as the Tibetan Terrier who were the companions of the monks and they would often be seen sitting outside temples or running and Gambolling down the steep hill sides.
