Famille verte Kangxi small plate / saucer with excellent potting and design. Scalloped edged piece which is in itself is unusual.

Painted below the edge with a hatched pattern in orange which is more typical of early famille verte pieces. The centre is painted with two fan shaped panels. One is painted with peony, fence and scholar the other with flowers.

The underside is painted with auspicious emblems and the base with a double circle around the hare or rabbit mark.

There are many myths and legends surrounding the Hare or Rabbit but in this use it is representing the fourth symbol of the twelve terrestrial branches the symbol for longevity.
