kangxi blue and white porcelain plate
Reference
5735
Diameter
21 cm (8 1/4")
Chinese early 18th century blue and white porcelain plate made at the kilns at Jingdezhen for export to Europe. Ding mark to the back inside a double circle.
Excellent painting and pattern with a vibrant cobalt blue colour.
The painting to the centre shows an aquatic scene with water, rockwork large Chrysanthemums and a bird perched on the rocks looking very grumpy. The side of the plate has the pattern repeated with flowers and rockwork.
The underside is painted with flower sprays and a large ding inside a double circle - a ding being an incense burner associated with the scholar.
Very good plate
