Kangxi, Chinese early 18th century, plate painted with a European figures and scene. The plate is painted with figures playing a game. It is copying a print which illustrated the genteel game of identifying the flower from its scent while blindfolded.
The original print is dated to just before 1700 and the plate to c1710.
The plate is excellent colour and rare subject matter. It is illustrated in Choice of the Private Trader see plate 7 by David Howard
The underside has a double circle around an Artemisia leaf.
The painting is well done and this is a very good example of this type.
