Chinese early 18th century blue and white Dragon saucer plate. Excellent colour and painting of a ferocious five toed dragon with clouds and lightning bolts.

one of the classic designs of the period painted to show a writhing dragon whose coils go over the plate to wrap around the sides of the saucer dish. It is full faced in the centre of the dish with the flaming pearl of all knowledge. Full faced five toed Dragons are associated with the Imperial court, but this type was probably as an ambassadorial gift from the Court to the Embassy or to be taken by the embassy on behalf of the Emperor to their country

this is a particularly fine example with a vibrant blue and relatively finely potted and of a good size.

The underside painted with a double circle around a more sort after mark of a ruyi headed sceptre and scrolls tied with ribbons.

Over all very good condition
