Painted in underglaze blue to show the moon or lunar hare to the centre. the hare is symbol of immortality who lives on the moon with the goddess of the Moon Cheng E
Cheng E is supposed to have stolen the elixir of immortality and had fled to the moon where she had to live permanently
The blossom overhanging is a bough of prunus blossom also symbolising long life.
The underside is painted to show four character mark - hall of precious Jade
