Chinese early 18th century blue and white porcelain Brush pot made at Jingdezhen during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi.

Excellent large size with good potting and painting. The painting is in two panels. One panel shows a dream scene of Confucian scholar. The scholar is sitting at his desk and dreaming of seeing probably the immortal ZhongLi quan having some sort dance with the immortal Nan Cai he. As the figures appear on a cloud it depicts a dream sequence

the other panel is painted with a Naturalistic scene favoured by Confucian scholars. It shows a wonderful flight of sea gulls with tipped wings above a folded rocky landscape with a retreat on a headland.

The base has the typical unglazed area and shows good wear

A very good piece
