Chinese early 18th century blue and white antique jars. Made during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi at the Kilns at Jingdezhen for export to Europe. Excellent colour and shape.

Painted to the sides with leaf shaped panels painted to the inside with under glaze blue to leave the white showing as the pattern. The pattern shows a spreading foliage design

Decorated around the top shoulder and the base with stiff leaves or lappets and a stylized lotus pattern of entwined stems.

The lids are the original ones although they are different around the sides, although the flat part of the lids are the same. This is not uncommon as the jars were packed separately to the lids when they were being shipped and at the ports lids were put with the jars and jars were placed in pairs, all done quickly.
