Chinese blue and white tea bowl and saucer early 18th century made during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi for export to Europe. c1710.
Excellent colour and design with slight moulding to the sides with a barbed rim to the top. painted to the centre with rock work, peonies, chrysanthemums, and grasses with various flying insects
The sides are painted in panels with the same scene as the centre repeated in some and in others with a perched magpie.
The underside painted with the Artemsia leaf inside a double circle and the underside of the panels painted with wind swept grasses.
The Artemesia leaf is a very good mark representing loyalty and scholastic achievement.
The saucer is 13cm in diameter
