Chinese early 18th century blue and white porcelain lidded jar made at Jingdezhen during the reign of The Emperor Kangxi for export to Europe.

Slightly moulded body and painted in a style to resemble bamboo. the painting in each segment shows various flowering plants issuing from rockwork. Above the stepped foot there is a hatched band which is a typical Kangxi period design.

The silver embellishments and lid are a later addition in the Islamic style. The metal ware is unmarked but is very probably silver

The design is unusual and a very good blue with excellent detail

The Dutch loved to add silver to the blue and white pieces to either enhance their appeal or to change the use of the piece
