Chinese blue and white porcelain early 18th century jar. the jar dates from the reign of the Emperor Kangxi and the silver is Hallmarked Dutch silver dating from the mid 19th century.

The painting on the jar shows two pairs of standing ladies in front of a pyramid fence and they are separated on one side by a banana tree / plantain and on the other by a large hollow rock with grasses. it is an excellent subject matter an the colour is very good.

The Dutch silver is hallmarked with two letter pp and an anchor. the motif and mark are for Pieter Pieterse from Amsterdam. The mark was approved after 1813 and was in use between 1846 -1870.

The use of the silver was probably to convert the elegant jar into either a table snuff bottle or tobacco jar, difficult to be certain.

The base has the Artemisia leaf painted to it which is a good mark
