Chinese 18th century blue and white porcelain censer, made during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi at the beginning of the century. Excellent potting and painting.

The painting shows a mountainous river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a pagoda in a wooded area and two Confucian scholars on a promontory. Below the over turned rim there is a band of cloud scrolls.

these were used by filling wit sand and then joss sticks were placed in them, they were for the family alter. Many people today fill them with soil and use them as wonderful bulb bowls.

Impressive large piece.
