Hoi an Hoard Chinese cargo which sank c1485 and subsequently salvaged by Oxford University Marine Archaeology department and sold through Butterfields San Francisco. provenance to the base.

The pot is straight sided and flat topped with a stylized landscape pattern. The piece was for export to the Chinese colonies and the condition and the pattern and form all consistent with the sinking of the junk in late 15th century.
