Hoi an hoard blue and white bowl salvaged from the sea off Modern day Vietnam. originally sank in the late 15th century and was excavated by oxford University Marine Archaeology department.

the bowl was made at the kilns in Chu Dou which were the largest kilns in Medieval Vietnam.

the bowl is typical of the ware they produced being quickly painted with freedom of expression with a broad brush showing lotus and shaped panels. The cleared off rim is typical allowing the bowl to be fired without sticking to the kiln grit.
