Late Ming / transitional saucer plate from the Hatcher cargo which sank c1642. This was the first cargo salvaged by Captain Michael Hatcher that led to all the other cargos being excavated.

The plate is painted with panels to the side showing various auspicious items and the centre painted with a bird perched on rockwork with flower.

Slightly barbed rim but excellent example of the type
