Transitional - Shunzhi - rounded jar. the wucai decoration to the sides is rare and very unusual. Painted in over glaze enamels to show rockwork in blue enamel, with peonies and peaches in red and yellow enamel. The leaves are very well defined in green enamel work.

The background is intensely decorated with a stylised petal / cell border sometimes referred to as a fish scale pattern. This is painted in over glaze orange. The shoulder has a geometric pattern in a band and around the rim there are lappets.

The base is flat and unglazed. To the side there are two pairs of holes that were made in the body before firing that would have been for metal handles that were inserted later.
