Chinese transitional blue and white saucer dish
Reference
5410
Diameter
15 cm (5 1/1")
Transitional Chinese blue and white saucer dish with excellent decoration and potting. Painted to the centre with a swooping swallow above scholars rock work and climbing flowering plants.
Typical of this type the cobalt blue is heavy pigment so the painting is thick and darker in certain areas and here there is lines in the surface.
To the back there is a little extra decoration and to the base a double circle around a two character mark that reads Abundance of Jade.
like so many Transitional pieces the decoration has a different look to that of the Ming dynasty which has only recently ended or is ending as the Transitional art is less regulated
