Chinese Transitional - 17th Century - Shunzhi blue and white octagonal porcelain bowl. very good bright colour and potting.

Each panel shows either a landscape scene with a Confucian Scholar in a mountainous estuary setting with a budding tree or a similar scene with a pagoda instead.

The rim is slightly everted and barbed

Such bowls were more common during the Transitional period as they were made for the Chinese market and it was before the need for larger quantities of easier potted bowls for export.

Overall quite good there are small frits and a shallow glaze chip to the rim and to the inside only there is a small very fine glaze stress hair crack.
