Chinese porcelain large lidded jar made during the reign of the Shunzhi, the first Qing Emperor.

Impressive jar with the original lid. Boldly painted to the main body with chrysanthemum, peony, grasses and bamboo with rockwork and birds. the colours are good and the painting typical of this reign. The lid is slightly brighter blue with the flowers repeated to the sides of it and the flat top painted with two boys.

It is very well potted as large jars are always hard to pot well and difficult to remain in good condition for hundreds of years.

The base is flat and mainly unglazed although there is a small glaze splash to the centre.

Excellent jar
