Chinese Early 18th century made during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi with a six character mark of the Emperor Kangxi to the back. made at the kilns at Jingdezhen. excellent plate and subject matter painted with a good cobalt blue colour.

The front is painted with a pair of mandarin ducks swimming in a Lotus pond, this is to symbolise marital bliss, purity and faithfulness. As they are also depicted with reeds and aquatic plants it is also to wish the person well in their civil examinations.

the outside is painted with pine branches the emblem of longevity

The underside is painted with four various branches of trees representing the four seasons.

the centre of the base is painted with a double circle around the six character Mark for the Emperor Kangxi.
