Kangxi Blue and white export porcelain pounce pot made for the European market.

Painted to the sides with items that scholars in China considered important including scrolls, and ruyi heads. As Pounce pots are sanders for dispensing sand to dry ink in Europe the decoration was much sort after.

the base has scrolling flowers around it and to the under side of the rim there are flower heads, all repeated to the top.

The rounded sides and the dipped centre are difficult shapes for the potter to achieve and this is an excellent example.
