Chinese Transitional 17th century blue and white porcelain Kendi with white metal mounts that are very probably silver in the Turkish or Islamic style. made during the reign of the Emperor Tianqi Painted in under glaze blue with trailing lotus flowers and clods and flower heads to the base of the neck.

The metal work is chased with flower heads and petal motifs to the neck. The lid is easily removed.

The under glaze blue is an excellent colour and is typical of Transitional blue. Many kendis that were produced were Kraak ones and so it is unusual to find one that is definitely made for the Islamic market outside Europe.
