Chinese blue and white porcelain charger, from the first half of the 18th century probably the end of Yongzheng to the beginning of Qianlong.

excellent clear painting to show a bird with rockwork, tree peony, chrysanthemums butterfly and grasses. Painting to the centre is clear and painted with excellent skill. The border is a geometric design and the rim is painted with flowers in four equally spaced groups.

Chargers of this size were made for decorative purposes as they were used by landed gentry through to the aristocracy as decorative wall hangings, being cheaper than an oil painting of to lighten a table or coffer top.

Very good colour and painting with a brown rim
