Reference
6142
Diameter
15 cm (5 1/1")
Late Ming / Transitional ko-sometsuke deep saucer painted in the Wucai palette. Although made for the Japanese market during the reign of the Emperor Tianqi at Jingdezhen it shows many details in decoration from Chinese culture.
The centre is painted in under glaze blue to show a chilong surrounded with three very different geometric patterns. in the patterns there are three cartouches of crustaceans and fish
The underside has a 4 character seal mark
Ko-sometsuke ware is always flawed deliberately and this has much kiln grit around the foot rim
